ZYN is the top-rated nicotine pouch on Pouchrated (9.0/10) because it is the only brand with FDA marketing orders and an FDA modified risk order, and its range now runs from 1.5 mg to 11 mg. The trade-off is price: a classic can costs $4.49 at Nicokick but holds only 15 pouches.

This review is based on FDA records, Philip Morris International announcements, ZYN's official FAQ and retailer listings as of September 25, 2026. We did not buy or use the product.
ZYN at a glance
ZYN is made by Swedish Match USA, a Philip Morris International (PMI) company. The US lineup now has two product families:
- Classic ZYN: a semi-dry pouch with 15 per can. Nicokick lists 13 flavors in 1.5, 3, 6 and 8 mg (not every flavor comes in every strength).
- ZYN Ultra: a moister pouch with 20 per can in 9 and 11 mg. ZYN's FAQ calls it "hydro-boosted." PMI says it began selling it in June 2026.
Strengths
ZYN has the widest strength ladder of any brand we rank: 1.5, 3, 6 and 8 mg for classic ZYN, plus 9 and 11 mg for ZYN Ultra. According to a September 9, 2026 report, PMI's US business added the 1.5 mg and 8 mg strengths that month.
That range matters. The 1.5 mg and 3 mg cans are the lowest-strength options from a major brand, which is why ZYN leads our beginner picks. The 9 and 11 mg ZYN Ultra cans compete with Rogue Max and FRE, though they stop below the 12 to 15 mg that those brands sell.
An important nuance: FDA's authorized list (updated August 21, 2026) covers classic ZYN at 3 mg and 6 mg and ZYN Ultra at 9 mg and 11 mg. The new 1.5 mg and 8 mg cans are not on it.
Flavors
Nicokick lists 13 classic ZYN flavors:
- Mint family: Cool Mint, Peppermint, Spearmint, Wintergreen, Menthol, Chill
- Other classics: Citrus, Coffee, Cinnamon, Smooth (unflavored)
- New in 2026: Black Cherry, Peach, Dragonberry (3 mg and 6 mg only)
ZYN Ultra adds 8 flavors at Nicokick, including Arctic Mint, Wintergreen Blast, Citrus Zest and Signature Smooth. PMI's August 2026 announcement also names Deep Freeze.
The three fruit flavors are new, and like the 1.5 mg and 8 mg cans, they are not on FDA's authorized list.

FDA status: the strongest in the category
ZYN's regulatory record has three milestones:
- January 16, 2025: FDA issued marketing granted orders for 20 ZYN products (10 flavors at 3 mg and 6 mg), the first pouches authorized after FDA review, according to Roon's FDA tracker.
- June 30, 2026: FDA authorized those 20 products to be marketed with a modified risk claim: "Using ZYN instead of cigarettes puts you at a lower risk of mouth cancer, heart disease, lung cancer, stroke, emphysema, and chronic bronchitis." The order lasts five years and can be withdrawn if youth uptake rises significantly.
- August 21, 2026: FDA authorized 11 ZYN Ultra products at 9 mg and 11 mg.
The modified risk claim compares ZYN with cigarettes. It does not say ZYN is safe. FDA's own words in the same announcement are: "There is no safe tobacco product, and those who do not use tobacco products should not start." For more, see are nicotine pouches safe?
How to use ZYN
